Caroline Forde is a Canadian textile artist living and working in Toronto, Ontario. Her love for vintage fabrics and natural colours inspires her surface design process. In the studio, she creates hand-printed and dyed fabrics using a variety of traditional techniques. Through research and material exploration, Caroline aims to incorporate sustainability and craftsmanship into sensible, sought-after objects. Alongside her studio practice, she has been instructing textile design workshops since 2015 to a wide range of audiences including artists, designers, and craftspeople.

While pursuing her design education Caroline has been the recipient of four textile residencies located at the Icelandic Textile Center, the Banff Center for Arts and Creavity, Peters Valley School of Craft, and Harbourfront Center. She continues creating new work through her personal practice as a Resident Artist located at the Living Arts Center in Mississauga.

Recent projects include participating in the Prague Quadrennial as an instructor for PQ Studio: Exploratory Workshops and Masterclasses. During the festival, she instructed The Natural Dye Studio: Sustainable Methods for Dying Textiles (2019).

Caroline’s work was recently exhibited through the Natural Dyes in the Northeast America Conference group exhibition (2020), the Alberta Craft Council’s Project Space Gallery through her solo exhibition, Spotlight Series (2018). She participated in the Group Exhibition, Garment Showcase, during Canada’s 6th National Fairtrade Conference located at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, BC (2018). Caroline’s work was nominated for the Alberta Craft Council’s Early Achievement Award (2019).
